Nadal’s 2007 French Open-Winning Rackets Sells For $118,000

00:01:10

Rafael Nadal’s Babolat AeroPro Drive racket, with which he won the 2007 French Open, was sold at an online auction for $118,206. The Spaniard has used the same type of racket for his entire career, since turning pro in 2001. Nadal was formidable on the clay surface and racked up the most French Open wins in history, with 14. He also holds the record for the most consecutive wins in the French Open in the Open Era, winning five on the bounce between 2010 and 2014. The 22-time Grand Slam winner dropped just one set and beat both Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer en route to lifting the trophy in 2007. The racket was displayed at the Australian Tennis Museum before going under the hammer at the online auction. Nadal’s is now the third most valuable in history, behind his own 2022 Australian Open-winning racket ($139,700) and Billie Jean King’s ($125,000).
