00:03:39

Buenos Aires, Argentina - July 11, 2024 The fall in economic activity affects the vast majority of sectors of the Argentine economy, and tourism is no exception. According to data published by the National Institute of Statistics and Census (Indec), in the first half of the year the number of tourists who traveled around the country fell by 13%. In detail, between January and June 2024, 8,987,142 tourists were counted, while in the same period in 2023, 10,327,858 visitors were registered, which left a difference of 1,340,716 people between one year and the next. This is where the aforementioned difference of 13% comes from. However, the Hotel Occupancy Survey (EOH) also offers a differentiation between resident tourism (internal tourism of Argentine inhabitants) and non-resident tourism (foreigners). In this case, the data indicate that between January and June 2024, 2,088,952 international tourists arrived in the country, resulting in a slight drop of 1.5% compared to the same period in 2023.
