Prosecutors in Milan have accused luxury fashion brands Dior and Armani of exploiting migrant workers in their supply chains. Recent raids revealed workshops producing Dior and Armani handbags paid workers as little as $2 an hour. Dior allegedly paid $57 for handbags retailing at $2,780, while Armani paid $100 for bags sold at $1,950. Fabio Roia, who is leading the investigation, questioned why manufacturing costs were so low and urged brands to address the issue. Armani responded, stating it has measures to prevent supply chain abuses and will cooperate with authorities. Dior has not yet commented. The raids also uncovered poor working conditions, with illegal immigrant workers found fleeing the scene. Fabio Becheri, a former Gucci executive, highlighted the need for brands to meet high customer expectations, especially with aggressive pricing. The investigation continues as authorities aim to hold the fashion giants accountable for their supply chain practices.
