People get tattoos for a variety of reasons, and experts say that doing so can have a number of mental health benefits. One study found that 82% of people had less dissatisfaction with their appearance immediately after getting a tattoo. They also had more self-esteem at least three weeks after getting the tattoo. Tattoos are a great conversation starter and can make people feel more confident in social situations. Some people use tattoos as a way of expressing something personally meaningful, without having to speak it.
