The Kailasa Temple is one of the most incredible wonders on our planet. It is the largest monument in the world cut from a single monolithic rock. The temple was constructed in the 8th century, by cutting the rock from the top to bottom and removing 200,000 tons of excavated rock. At Ellora, Maharashtra, India there are 34 rock-cut Buddhist, Hindu, and Jain temples and monasteries from the 7th to 10th centuries, but the Kailasa (Kailasha) Temple, Cave 16, is the most amazing.
