Sinner Remains Unbeaten & Advances To ATP Finals Semis

00:01:24

Jannik Sinner continued his unbeaten start to the ATP Finals with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Daniil Medvedev in Turin. Sinner, who topped the Ilie Nastase group with three wins out of three, had already advanced to the semifinals following Taylor Fritz’s win over Alex de Minaur. The 23-year-old dropped just two points on serve in the first set as Medvedev clocked 17 unforced errors as Sinner captured a crucial break to go up 5-3. Sinner went on to capture the first frame and carry his momentum into the second set to break his opponent earlier on, before the latter responded to tie the set at 3-3. However, unforced errors would continue to haunt Medvedev and Sinner would seal the all-important break at 4-4 before closing out the match. Sinner’s triumph aided Fritz, as the latter also qualified for the last four as Medvedev needed to beat the Italian in straight sets to qualify. In the other group, Carlos Alcaraz, Alexander Zverev, Casper Ruud and Andrey Rublev are still able to qualify for the semifinals, heading into the final game. “No preference (on who I play). Whoever it is going to be on the other side of the net, I will try to play the best tennis I can. I'm here; I know what I have achieved during this year, so I try to step on court with a good mindset. I have a good team around me. I have beautiful people around me who support me daily and wish for me,” said Jannik Sinner.
