Rafael Nadal has been named in Spain’s squad for the upcoming Davis Cup quarterfinals that are set to take place in November in Malaga, Spain. Nadal, a four-time winner of the event, joins Carlos Alcaraz, Roberto Bautista Agut, Pablo Carreno Busta and Marcel Granollers on the team. The 38-year-old, who has hinted at retiring later this year, hasn’t played since his defeat alongside Carlos Alcaraz in the quarterfinals of the men’s doubles at the Paris Olympics. Nadal, who also missed the Australian Open and Wimbledon, pulled out of the US Open last month as he wouldn’t “be able to give my 100% at this time.” The former world number one also withdrew from the recent Laver Cup as he believed there were other players who could "help the team deliver the win.” The Davis Cup quarterfinals will take place from November 19-21, with the semifinals following on consecutive games for the final on November 24. World number one Jannik Sinner will lead reigning champions Italy, who are looking to become the first team to retain the title in over a decade.
