Daria Kasatkina, an openly gay player on the WTA Tour, has stated that she was "given guarantees" for her safety if she competes in Saudi Arabia. The 26-year-old, currently ranked 11th in the world, is aiming to qualify for the season-ending WTA Finals. The final is set to take place in Riyadh this November. While Kasatkina previouslay said that she has “many issues concerning this country”, she is now open to the sport being played in Saudi Arabia. "As long as it gives the opportunity to the people there, and the young kids and the women to actually see the sport - so that they can watch it, they can play it, they can participate in this, I think it’s great," Daria Kasatkina, BBC Sport.
