Alcaraz Silences Injury Concerns With Roland Garros Win

00:01:04

Carlos Alcaraz has defeated JJ Wolf to advance into the second round of the French Open, suppressing any injury concerns. Alcaraz, who had pulled out of the Italian Open earlier this month due to a forearm injury, beat Wolf 6-1, 6-2, 6-1 on Court Philippe Chatrier. "I’m really happy to be back here in Paris to compete again. It’s been a very difficult month for me because I love competing. I’ve tried everything I could to be at 100 percent here at Roland Garros to show my best tennis, and I think I did that today," said Carlos Alcaraz. The 21-year-old added that he would’ve “loved to have played more matches” but said he doesn’t “need too many matches to get to 100 percent.” Alcaraz, who wore a protective sleeve on his right arm, noted that his forearm is getting “better” as he hit five aces and 27 winners in the victory. The world number three champion will play Dutch qualifier Jesper De Jong, who defeated Brit Jack Draper in the opening round, in round two.
