Djokovic Pulls Out Of ATP Finals Due To "Ongoing Injury"

00:01:24

Novak Djokovic has announced that he is withdrawing from the ATP Finals in Turin due to an “ongoing injury.” Djokovic, who has won the tournament a record seven times, was set to participate at the event after qualifying as the sixth-ranked player on the ATP World Tour. “I was really looking forward to being there, but due to ongoing injury I won't be playing next week. Apologies to those who were planning to see me. Wishing all the players a great tournament. See you soon,” said Novak Djokovic on Instagram. Djokovic had told Serbian reporters last month that competing at the ATP Finals wasn’t a priority and that the 37-year-old was “not chasing the rankings.” The former world number one is expected to prioritize the Grand Slams next year, with January's Australian Open set to be his next tournament. Djokovic is looking to capture a record-breaking 25th Grand Slam title, which would put him one clear of Margaret Court and give him his 100th tour win. The Serbian’s withdrawal from the event means that the ATP Finals won’t feature Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, or Roger Federer for the first time since 2001. The ATP Finals lineup includes Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz, Alexander Zverev, Daniil Medvedev, Taylor Fritz, Casper Ruud, Alex de Minaur and Andrey Rublev.
