Nadal's Future Uncertain Following Djokovic Loss

00:01:14

Rafael Nadal refused to confirm whether or not his Olympics second round loss to Novak Djokovic will be the last singles match of his career. Nadal, who lost 6-1, 6-4 to his old rival at Roland Garros, was reluctant to give an update on his rumored retirement following the defeat. “I cannot live every single day with the feeling that it's going to be or not going to be my last match. If I feel that I am not competitive enough to keep going, or physically I'm not ready to keep going, I will stop,” said Rafael Nadal. The 22-time Grand Slam champion added that he will be at “peace” if the encounter turns out to be his final singles game of his career. Nadal struggled to compete with Djokovic for much of the game, falling behind by a set and 4-0 in the second set before eventually fighting back on Court Philippe Chatrier. Djokovic, who is aiming to win his first Olympic gold medal, eventually sealed the second set 6-4 to advance to the third round. The defeat was Nadal’s fifth in 118 matches at Roland Garros, with the 37-year-old spending most of his career dominating the surface with 14 French Open titles.
