The French Open is cracking down on unruly fans after incidents like a player being spat on and excessive noise during matches. To address this, tournament director Amelie Mauresmo has implemented a ban on alcohol sales in the stands. This comes after Belgian player David Goffin complained about being harassed and spat at during a match. Additionally, women's champion Iga Swiatek had to plead with fans to stay quiet during points. Security will also be increased, and umpires will strictly enforce respectful behavior towards players and the game. While alcohol is banned in the stands, it's still available elsewhere on the grounds. "Alcohol has been allowed up until now in the stands - but that's over...I'm an optimist and I think people will react in a good way. If not we will take more measures," explained Mauresmo.
