World No-1 Swiatek Splits With Coach After Three Years

00:01:14

World number one Iga Swiatek has announced her split with coach Tomasz Wiktorowski, ending their partnership after three seasons.  Wiktorowski started working with Swiatek in 2022 before helping the 23-year-old capture four Grand Slams, including three straight French Opens. “After three years of the greatest achievements in my career, together with my coach Tomasz Wiktorowski we decided to part ways. I want to start with a big thank you and appreciating our work together. His experience, analytical and strategic attitude and enormous knowledge about tennis helped us to achieve things I've never dreamed of,” said Iga Swiatek on Instagram. Swiatek added that she has held talks with potential new coaches but will take a “couple weeks” before starting to work with her new appointment.  Under Wiktorowski’s mentorship, Swiatek became the first Polish tennis player to climb to the top of the world rankings in April 2022, where she has spent a total of 123 weeks since. The five-time Grand Slam winner won the French Open and US Open in her opening season with the 43-year-old coach, as well as clocking a 37-match winning streak that same year. Swiatek would go on to clinch her third title at Roland Garros in four years in 2023 before defending her crown for the second year in a row this year.
