Emma Raducanu has said that she stands by her decision to withdraw from her mixed doubles match at Wimbledon with Andy Murray. The 21-year-old decided to prioritize her singles match after waking up with a stiff wrist. She ended up losing in the fourth round to Lulu Sun, struggling with a lower back issue. Raducanu said it was a “no-brainer” to prioritize her health, admitting that she doesn’t “think it was a mistake.” She didn’t expect to reach the fourth round in singles and hadn't discussed with Murray what would happen with mixed doubles if she progressed far in the singles tournament. “I didn’t want to take his last match away from him. But at the end of the day I think a lot of the players in a similar situation would have done the same thing, prioritising their body. I still stand by making the right call,” said Raducanu. The tennis star also missed last year’s Wimbledon as she had to have surgeries on both of her wrists and one of her ankles. Despite her exit, Raducanu says she has "got her fire back" and is determined to continue climbing the rankings.
