Djokovic Set To Compete At Paris Olympics Despite Injury

00:01:05

Novak Djokovic will compete for Serbia at the Olympics in Paris this summer, the Olympic Committee of Serbia has announced. Djokovic, who has featured at every edition of the Summer Games since 2008, is aiming to capture his maiden gold medal. The 37-year-old won bronze in 2008; however, he has suffered defeat in the third-place encounter on two occasions since. The Olympics will be Djokovic’s first appearance in Paris since the Serbian withdrew from the French Open in May due to a knee injury. Djokovic underwent an MRI after sustaining the injury at Roland Garros, which found he had suffered a torn meniscus in his right knee. The 24-time Grand Slam champion underwent surgery on the injury, forcing him to miss the penultimate major of the year at Wimbledon. Rafael Nadal is also set to play at the Games, with the 38-year-old set to partner French Open champion Carlos Alcaraz for Spain.
